Let The Nexii Hit The Floor: HSPA+ Nexus 7 Is Now Sold Out On The Play Store, Too

If the newly-released Nexus devices were people, then what we've been seeing is nothing short of that Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel Cameron can't wait for. Both versions of the Nexus 4 have already dropped like flies, as well as the 32GB Nexus 10. Now, the 3G-connected version of the Nexus 7 is also sold out. Not too shabby.

At this point, the only new Nexus product on the Play Store that's still in stock is the 16GB Nexus 10 (as well as both the 16GB and 32GB WiFi Nexus 7s, but those aren't really all that new). Of course, it's impossible to tell what this means for the commercial success of these devices. Is it sheer volume of demand that's causing the shortage, or did Google simply not order that many for sale on its storefront? Either way, it can only be a good sign for Android lovers that these things are a hit with consumers. We'll just be waiting to see how much of a hit. Oh, and we'll also be waiting for them to come back in stock. Refresh. Refresh. Refresh.

After A Brief Scare, CyanogenMod's Website Is Back In Order, No Hostages Taken, Nor Money Extorted

Earlier on Wednesday, there was a bit of a scare when CyanogenMod wrote a blog post instructing users to transition to cyanogenmod.org instead of the .com address the group has used up until now. As the story goes, a member of the team donated the domain back in the early days and had managed it ever since. Until recently when control of the domain was in question during a dispute with said user. According to the original post, this person was asking for a substantial fee for the address, as well as access to Google Apps accounts that managed a number of public-facing email accounts.
Thankfully, the issue has been resolved "as amicably as these things can be." It's unclear exactly what went down or who's to blame (as in most situations, it's likely two parts Enough Blame To Go Around, with a dash of Misunderstanding). The important takeaway here, though, is that the site will continue to operate as normal. The major difference now is that cyanogenmod.com will now redirect to cyanogenmod.org, which will now be the official site domain.
We will still be using CyanogenMod.org as our primary domain, and the .com address will simply redirect to this new domain. Ironically enough, .org is better than .com as we are not a commercial entity, and is far more in line with how CyanogenMod is structured.
Also, in the "Everything is fine, nothing is ruined" department, the group addressed some concerns that some donations may have been misappropriated as part of a related snafu. Rest easy, they were not:
We received a common question, that wed like to take a moment to answer. Some of you contacted us mentioning that you had previously donated to a different address. When the forum began, up until about 3 months ago, the forum utilized this other address as the mechanism for forum donations and establishment of the Donator badge. Donations made to this address prior to three months ago were used for the CyanogenMod forum IPB licence and forum related costs and were not misappropriated.
Ultimately, everything is back to normal in ROM land. Aside from the fact that some of you have just now realized that ROM Land is a theme park that you would like to visit, but it doesn't exist. You guys should get on that. Otherwise, no money has been extorted from CyanogenMod, no legal action is being taken, and everyone is okay with everyone else at this point.
Time to go back to your lives.

[New Game] The Hunters Look To Scratch Your Strategy Itch

The Hunters: Episode One is a new game on the Google Play Store that looks to appeal to fans of the XCOM, Jagged Alliance, and Final Fantasy Tactics series. You take control of a team of mercenaries in turn-based missions which will earn you money upon completion. You can use that money to upgrade your squad and complete contracts that refresh every day. You can also purchase in-game currency with real money, as well.

The game takes advantage of a tablet or phone's touch screen in order to give you a really good look of the battlefield; of course, you can zoom in and out to get as intimate as you want. Each soldier has their own compliment of action points to use, which can be spent moving, attacking, or guarding choke points. The game also challenges you to complete missions with certain objectives (like not taking any damage, casualties, or finishing within a certain number of rounds), and there's variable difficulty to help out newbies, as well.

The game's price comes in at just under five dollars, and requires 192MB of space, as well. It's up to strategy fans to determine if The Hunters is worth it.

[Deal Alert] Amazon Wireless Drops The EVO LTE To $20 And Galaxy S III To $50 For New Sprint Customers

If you're convinced that LTE is the way to go and aren't interested in picking up the Nexus 4, then Amazon Wireless is running a couple of deals right now for those who have been considering making the jump the Sprint.
image
First off, the HTC EVO LTE is now only $20. Twenty. Not a bad deal for such a solid phone, especially if you plan on installing CyanogenMod 10 on it. If you're not really the HTC type, though, the Galaxy S III was also on the receiving end of a price cut. You can now get this handset for $50 with a new two-year agreement. Still not quite as good as Sam's Black Friday deal, but at least you won't have to brave the crowds to score this one.
If either of those sound like your cup of tea, hit the appropriate link below.

Motorola Finalizes $100 Trade-Up Program For Old Devices Basically A Rebate Deal

When Motorola announced a few months back that it was not going to update most of its 2011 Android devices to Jelly Bean, owners were understandably upset. Moto attempted to calm the masses by offering a $100 trade-in credit. Now the details have been finalized and the program is looking much less appealing than everyone had hoped.
tradeup
Eligible devices are the Droid 3, Droid X2, Admiral, Atrix 2, Atrix 4G, Cliq2, Electrify, Photon 4G, XPRT, Titanium, and Triumph. If you have one of these, you're in the program. Rather than offering you a discount on the purchase of your new phone, this is basically a glorified rebate. The website simply offers instructions on how to get your rebate card. If you're getting a Verizon phone, you will have to go in and buy your new phone without any discount. The Verizon staff will then take the old phone and give you a $100 Verizon gift card. You can use that to buy accessories or pay your monthly bill.
Other carriers are a little more of a hassle. You'll have to go into the store, buy the new phone, and send your old one to Motorola along with proof of purchase for the new Motorola handset. In 6-8 weeks, Moto sends you a Visa gift card for $100. You might be thinking that it's nice to be getting something, but you are actually handing over the old phone. All they're giving you is $100, and Verizon is locking you into spending it all there. You could make more money selling the old device on Craigslist for cold hard cash.

[Updated: Live For All] Spacetime Studios Releases Limited Beta Of Arcane Legends

Update 11/13/12: Arcane Legends is no longer limited to Canada and Australia - come and get it!
Fans of Spacetime Studios - the firm behind Pocket Legends and Star Legends - make ready your thumbs, because the company has released a limited beta version of its newest game, Arcane Legends. For the time being, the game is only available to users in Australia and Canada, but is expected to be released to the masses sometime around the week of November 19th.

So what's this new Legends title all about? Like the others, it's a MMORPG. As such, you take on the role of various characters: rogue, sorcerer, or warrior. You fight people, destroy things, unlock stuff, and travel around a vast world of wonder and treasure. It's neat.
Basically, if you're a fan of Spacetime Studios, MMORPGs, or both - you'll probably dig this title, too. Gamers in the aforementioned areas can grab the game now but, as noted above, the rest of the world will have to wait a couple week.
