Carrier 411

• First we obliterated this alleged Galaxy S IV render, then someone pointed out it was a fan-made image from months ago. We move on.
• If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, LG would sincerely like to get sued by Samsung's design lawyers.

Code Google

• Legends tell, in a land far away, where mortal man dare not tread, there lies a mythical treasure on Pure Mobile: that legendary wireless charging station, the Nexus 4 orb!
• David turns down our request to read the Android 4.2.1 changelog to us as a bed time story, but you can read it for yourself here.
• Nexus 4 factory images go all David Blaine on us, disappearing for a while before, voil! It's back on Google's developer site. (Magician's still say "voil," right?)
• The Nexus 4 becomes self-aware and it's tired of taking pictures of your food. On some handsets, if you take too many photos, the camera app stops working until you reboot it.
• A time to build up, and a time to break down. A time for Gingerbread, and a time for Jelly Bean. To every OS, there is a season. Turn, turn, turn.
• "Oh hey, is that the new Galaxy?" is replacing "Is that a Droid phone?" as the sentence your friends will say to give you aneurisms.

The Hotsheet

• The LTE version of T-Mobile's Galaxy S III is rumored to arrive in late March, early April. Flip a coin to guess if it will arrive before or after T-Mo's LTE network does.
• Canadians will soon be able to multi- their windows on the Note II on 'national carriers' starting February 6th.
• Samsung promised a developer edition of its Galaxy Note II on Verizon. Surely it will deliver.
• We're still not sure if there's a good way to attach buttons to an Android device, but building a tablet for a reasonable price with a custom-fitted set of controls might not be a bad way.
• We're equally unsure if there's a good way to do smart watches, but building in its own phone and requiring users to type on a 2.5" display on their wrist is definitely a bad way.
• HTC clarifies that whole ROM-sharing thing, is okay with the custom Sense builds, just wants its domain back. Pretty please. With lawyers on top.
• The Thunderbolt got updated ICS. The crowd can't decide whether to throw a party or tomatoes.
• Device updates: UK Motorola RAZR i updated to Android 4.1, US Cellular Electrify M updated to 4.1.2, Sony rolls out 4.1 for Xperia T and V this week.

App Updates

• After many long months, Carbon for Twitter finally arrives on Android. Ryan doesn't think it's very good.

In Other News

• The GameStick gets funded on Kickstarter, achieving 648% of its goal. Still millions below the Ouya's budget, but we'll see.
• Speaking of, Ouya announced it will release new hardware every year. This makes us feel a little better about buying a game system powered by a Tegra 3 processor.
